The Minnesota Round Table on Sustainable Development was a diverse group of 30 business, environmental and community leaders appointed by Governor Arne H. Carlson to consider how Minnesotans could safeguard their long-term environmental, economic and social well-being.

Sustainable development legislation

The Minnesota Legislature has passed several laws that advance the state’s efforts toward sustainable development.

Water Resources Leadership Group

The Water Resources Leadership Group brings together state agencies that have a major role in taking care of the state’s waters and advises the EQB and Governor's Clean Water Cabinet on Minnesota’s water issues and priorities. Each member looks at water issues from a different angle — drinking water, agriculture, recreation, pollution — and coordinates their concerns through the committee, board and cabinet in order to create a unified, coherent approach to managing Minnesota’s water.

These reports are based upon a sample framework of goals, objectives and indicators in Preparing for Water Plan 2000. They were prepared by basin teams.

Basin team reports and information

Many citizens helped shape the state`s 10-year water plan and the Governor’s Water Unification Initiative by providing input to basin teams across the state through meetings and this web site.

JOBZ and the environment

The Clean Water Cabinet and Environmental Quality Board believe that an upfront understanding of the environmental implications of proposed developments can head off last minute complications and delays. In that spirit, the CWC and EQB offer a package of information about JOBZ and Minnesota’s water resources to aid those involved in economic development planning.

Proposed revision of rules governing the environmental review program, part 1r

The Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB) is considering making revisions to the existing rules governing the Environmental Review Program. These are the rules under which Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAWs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), and other environmental review documents are prepared. The EQB has identified about 50 rule provisions that will be considered for amendment.
