EQB and the Department of Employment and Economic Development have collaborated to release Minnesota's Water Industry Economic Profile. Safe and affordable water is an important aspect of economic vitality and public health. Minnesota River integrated watershed, water quality and ecosystem restoration study

The Environmental Quality Board (EQB), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Minnesota River Board and more than 20 partners are developing a partnership for restoring the Minnesota River Basin. The partnership will provide the basin’s water and land managers with new tools for making sensible water and land use choices. It will help people living in the area understand how decisions can serve everyone’s economic interests by contributing to a diversified agricultural community and a beautiful and healthy environment.

Amending the Environmental Review program rules – phase 1

The various documents associated with the EQB’s project to amend 36 provisions of the Environmental Review program are listed on this page. These documents include the text of the amendments, as proposed for hearing and for adoption, after modifications; the Statement of Need and Reasonableness (SONAR) explaining the amendments and their rationale; and various procedural documents.

Charting a course for the future

The Water Agency Reorganization Plan was part of the Omnibus Agriculture and Environment funding act of the 2001 Special Session. This provision directed the Office of Strategic and Long-Range Planning (Minnesota Planning) to develop and present to the Legislature a plan to reorganize state water programs and functions. The Water Resources Committee of the Environmental Quality Board directed development of the plan.

Water management unification initiative

The Water Management Unification Initiative was intended to make Minnesota's water management more understandable and responsive to citizens by unifying state efforts within major river basins. The approach sought to improve accountability by directing administrative water priorities, policies and budgets toward measurable objectives. The initiative was to enhance the sustainability of Minnesota's water resources by identifying economic, environmental and community connections for responsible choices.
