Minnesota Environmental Quality Board. Water program
Overview
The Environmental Quality Board is charged with coordinating
state water resource management activities. It is responsible for developing
the state water plan, a state water monitoring plan, biennial water policy and
priorities reports, and biennial reports on trends in water quality and availability
and research needs.
Several agencies play a role in managing Minnesota’s
water resources and, as a result, a single water issue often involves a number
of agencies. Because of this, the Governor established a Clean
Water Cabinet and much of the EQB’s coordination and planning
work is completed through the Cabinet. A management level water resources leadership
group aids the Cabinet and Board in carrying out these duties.
